7 dead, 11 injured in truck-auto collision in Madhya Pradesh

Seven people, including a 3-year-old, were killed, and 11 others wounded when a truck collided with a three-wheeler autorickshaw in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district on Wednesday.
According to the police, a heavy vehicle dragged a loading auto for approximately 100 meters before overturning and landing on a three-wheeler near Lunji village on the Sehore-Majhgawan road at around 3:30 pm, news agency PTI reported.
Bystanders immediately informed the police about the accident and rushed to rescue those trapped under the truck.
Soon after the incident, the police arrived at the scene and sent the injured to the nearby hospital in Sihora for treatment.
The dead have been identified as Shobharam (35), son of Chotu; Usha Bai (50), wife of Kothari Adivasi; Shivakul (18), son of Rajesh Kol; Kallu Bai (30), wife of Shobharam; Ranu Kol (19), wife of Karan; Karan (20), son of Pardeshi Kol; and little Bhura Kol (3), son of Shobharam Kol.
Those injured included six men and four women.
All those dead and wounded were residents of Pratappur village.
Expressing grief over the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced financial aid of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the victims from his discretionary grant and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
“I express condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief,” he stated on X.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested the truck driver and started their investigation.
